About Us
Marie’s Original Bakery is small, locally owned European style bakery located in the heart of downtown Eau Claire. Owner Marie-Arzel Young, former owner of The French Confection, opened Marie’s in October 2006.
Marie-Arzel Young is a classically trained pastry chef, having apprenticed under both Odessa Piper of L’Etoile and Remy Funfrock of Café Boulud prior to graduating from Madison Area Technical College – Culinary Arts Program. Marie wintered at the MATC Culinary Arts Program as a teacher’s assistant during fall-spring semester 2005-2006 between businesses.
Marie’s baked goods have been a part of the Downtown Eau Claire Farmer’s Market every summer since 2003.
Marie’s Original Bakery storefront at 307 South Barstow is open Wednesday through Saturday, 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. Come early for best selection!
In the fall of 2007, Marie’s Original Bakery has expanded to include seating, and a drink menu.
